How quickly can I see my credit report?
In most instances you will be able to see your credit report online immediately.

Who is allowed to see my credit report?
Whenever you apply for a loan, mortgage or credit card, your credit history may be accessed by the lender. It can also be examined by others with a legitimate reason to do so. With credit monitoring, you'll know whenever an organisation has looked at your credit report.

Do I need to become a member to access my credit report?
Yes. When you join PrivacyGuard, you will have access to your report.

Can my partner or family use the service?
Memberships are provided on an individual basis only. However, your partner or other family members may also join PrivacyGuard.

What is my credit score?
Your credit score (a number between 0-999) is based upon information contained in your credit report. A higher score means you should find it easier to borrow money or buy goods on credit. However, each lender has their own credit scoring guidelines and may take other factors into consideration.

Can you make corrections to my report?
Only you or the appropriate institution can change or correct your records. As a member of PrivacyGuard, you will be able to access the dispute forms you need online. You can also call our customer service number and speak to our trained consultants, who will provide you with information to help you understand your reports.

Is my information confidential?
Yes! Your information remains confidential between you and the relevant financial organisation. The records you receive reflect what's held on your credit report and are presented in an easy-to-read format for you to review. We adhere to a strict code of ethics and never share any of the confidential information on your credit report with an outside agency for any reason, unless required by law.

Do you keep a copy of my credit reports?
No. The transaction remains confidential between you and the credit reference agency.

How long is information held on my Credit Report?
Details of your active accounts, showing up to three years history, are held on your credit report. Accounts are generally kept for six years after they have been settled.

If you receive any unsolicited email that claims to come from us but which you are suspicious about, please forward it to our team and we will investigate it further. This type of internet fraud is unfortunately on the rise and is called phishing.

Phishing is the name given to the fraudulent practice of sending out emails that appear to come from genuine companies in an attempt to make people disclose personal information. Criminals can then use this information to commit a number of different types of fraud, including identity theft.
